Shotzu, CEO

Remember when we first got cell phones in the early 00s and we were excited because it came with games? Then sidekicks and Nextel chirps to iPads and smart monitors, we've come a long way in a relatively short amount of time. These days, apps rule the world. I saw something on Facebook yesterday that basically read, "If you pay for it, you're a consumer. If you don't, you're the product". An interesting point to make because we are in the age of productless corps that use social currency to capitalize off of. We are the product. We are the packaging on the shelf and these companies that are in dire need of customers, are the buyers. Who has what it takes to afford your attention, as the product. It's quite interesting how it all works but that is indeed, a conversation for another post. Back to tech talk.

With the app market being heavily saturated with a mixture of productivity-based, service oriented applications that make our lives easier, it's hard to really stand out. Staking your claim in this industry is a hit or miss for a lot of companies and just as most start-ups, most fail almost immediately. There is something to be said about the ones that like froth, rise to be top of the grind.

Enter Shotzu, a service-based tech company that is gaining traction with each client acquisition they gain. If you're wondering, yes, Shotzu is photography oriented. As a shooter, one of the hardest parts of freelancing is finding clientele. And as an emerging business in this millennial age, one of the most elusive pieces to your puzzle is media. Shotzu is that middle man. With current clients like Postmates, Poshmark & Redfin, Shotzu aims to cover all genres. They serve as a Uber for photographers, where if you have volume-based company, shooters can be booked on demand.

And the big homie Julian Wright (IG: @earlyadapter), is the face behind the brand. I can genuinely say that he has helped me hone in my business acumen when it came to entrepreneurship. His understanding of branding and marketing, paired with his long history of interpersonal business dealings has help not only rise the stock of Shotzu but also made him an unsung representation of Black men in tech. It has been dope to witness Shotzu from the beginning stages to what Julian is accomplishing now with the company. And the dope thing is that he really runs through the city, like literally. Grounded in the streets of DC, I believe we are witnessing the emergence of a new era of DC power players & Julian's name can definitely be tossed in the mix.
