Yogi - Storyteller Sunday
Storyteller Sunday's was a series that myself and the Datstaken crew created to share different people's stories with the world. With us constantly being behind the camera and taking on projects of all different kinds, rarely do we get the opportunity to share our own stories with the world. This is a piece of my story.
I didn't always know that I wanted to do photography, it just sort of happened but it makes sense now that I look back on it. The words "follow your dreams" are so often used when we are in our younger stages but as you get older, the crazier you look trying to actually accomplish them. I think we should all be encouraged to do so because there is a certain liberation that comes with being part of them coming to fruition. There came a time with me where I realized that the guy that cut my checks is no different than me, he had just been following his dreams longer. I would ask myself why I had to look at him as a superior when we both wake up in the morning, brush our teeth and put on clothes (at least I hope he brushed his teeth lol, to each their own). Not that I felt I should challenge him, nor do I believe that people that work for others are "weak" (yes I'm referring to the post Chatty Patty comments from the Dame Dash interview). My perspective on the situation was simply this; if he could set his mind to accomplishing his own dreams and creating his own path in life, then so could I and that was where the journey begun. I'm definitely not at the end of my journey or even a quarter of the way through but at least I'm on the path, navigating my way through.
This is a piece of my story. Look for Part 2 in the future.
