Legs & Latte's - Caffe Pronto
Back again, with another episode of Legs & Latte's. This week we showcase Caffe Pronto, a cool little spot in a busy shopping center in Annapolis. Now, I know what you're thinking as I thought the same and the answer is yes. Yes, it is a coffee shop located in the same shopping center as Home Goods, TJ Maxx & California Tortilla but don't let that fool you, Caffe Pronto is still a spot to be respected amongst the other coffee bars popping up around the DMV.
This week, I met with Sahra and we ended up spending a few hours lost in conversation. Again, prior to visiting in person, I read online reviews in search of a place that stood out through popular opinion. "Purveyors of fine, specialty coffee" is what the bio page read, so of course it sparked my interest. As soon as you walk in, it feels like a Starbucks; you have a bunch of people spread out across the store on their Mac computers, baristas behind the counter and a pastry display that makes you want to eat everything inside. Though I must say, in ordering my drink I was reminded that this is a place where they serve traditional drinks as opposed to the flavored mainstream ones that some other places are famous for serving (Yes I'm looking at you, Starbucks). Visually the shop leaves much to be desired as it's wide open floor-plan makes it feel bare but, I'm not an HGTV Interior Designer so I suppose that is neither here nor there. As I mentioned earlier, I shared a lengthy conversation with Sahra and don't ever recall the music or other conversation getting in the way of ours. That being said, the ambience is suitable for social meetings and the mellow music choice can cause you to get caught up for hours.
As a non-coffee drinker she ordered a Hot Chocolate and it was said to be the best cup she's ever had, a feeling I can vouch for because my Macchiato was of "fine" quality as well. They also have a tasty sandwich selection. Both the Tomato & Brie and the Caprese were solid and full of flavor, a seemingly hard task being that those 2 panini's only include a few ingredients each. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would suggest you to stop by if ever in the Festival Shopping Center off of Riva Road in Annapolis.
