Darryl & DeMarco / IT Tech & Full-time Lifer
It is a good sign of warm weather when the basketball courts start filling up with young kids harnessing NBA aspirations and fathers bringing that dream back to reality with aggressive blocks and game winning shots. This week, we came across Darryl enjoying a Tuesday evening with is son, DeMarco (9 years old). DeMarco goes to year-round school in North Carolina, which means he is in school for 9 weeks and then out for 3 before the process starts all over again, making it difficult for Darryl to spend everyday with his son. "During those 3 weeks, he just comes up here with me and I spend as much time with him as I can", as Darryl explained how their bonding time was laid out. Spending quality time is about providing an experience, spoiling with memories and moments as opposed to dropping money and materials, a concept Darryl stood behind. Darryl told us that he really gets into whatever his son shows interest in as DeMarco dropped the ball, hopped on his skateboard and rode off. "At this point his favorite thing is my favorite thing..... I didn't know anything about skateboarding until he picked up one".
