Project Semicolon; Addiction

Part of being an artist and expressing your voice through the art is speaking for those who's voices and/or perspectives can't reach the masses. Art often times helps with social commentary as a result because it is a voice for the voiceless. A growing issue in our generation is how depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury have lead to vast number of deaths amongst our youth, yet this issue is still part of conversation that we don't have. It's almost as if as a society we hear, see and are surrounded by this issue but hold our palms to our ears and close our eyes while we ignore it. Myself and my brothers of Datstaken (@dzniel, @ofphotography, @razary, @jgrizz10, @l.alistair) have chosen to express this issue visually to show how shocking and spine chilling those last few moments can be. We will be featuring a different subject each month for the rest of the year as we try to keep attention on the issue, especially as the months are getting colder. Seasonal depression is a major deal already and I'm not sure about anyone else but the emotional vibrations in the universe have already started shifting. No one was harmed in the creation of these images, nor are any of these images glorifying the act in any way. Only pure emotion and a desire to be as genuine as we possibly can for re-enactment purposes. Each model involved also takes this subject seriously as well.
