Legs & Latte's - Cervantes
At the start of 2015, I got the opportunity to shoot for a local food blog, Transient Tastes. The goal of Transient Tastes is to explore different kinds of food and drinks and highlight the ambience and environment within an establishment. In the process of visiting restaurants and coffee shops, I decided to start a food based series called, Legs & Latte’s. In the series I visit a new coffee/tea bar each weak and invite a model for some conversation and a shared review of the of the spots.
For the first visit, I invited Roshelle to join me at Cervantes Coffee Roasters in Springfield, VA. Cervantes has a reputation for freshly grown, single origin coffee beans chosen from all over the world. I checked the reviews prior to my trip and expected quality in my cup, and I must say, I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered a cinnamon roll, as well as a Macchiato, which had an interesting way of dispersing it’s amazing flavors throughout my tastebuds. I must say, as one that is used to drinking, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts & shitty cups of homemade, I was extremely impressed by the taste. It was rich and strong but not at all overbearing.
As far as the ambience, as soon as you walk into the shop, you’re reminded that this is a place that concentrates on a quality roast in every cup. Large buckets of coffee beans from all over (Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, Honduras, etc), a large roaster on display in the warehouse portion of the shop, and burlap sacks add to the feeling of legitimacy. It’s a dimly lit, cozy spot with a good selection of music that is only rivaled only by a “hipster” bar in the city. The warehouse provided plenty of intimate seating where you were enveloped in the the sweet aroma of the beans and burlap that surrounded you; perfect for an early morning to mid-afternoon conversation, which is ideal being that Cervantes closes at 2pm. Overall, I was satisfied by my visit and would suggest that all you Taste Testers give them a try.
