Week 4 of Quarantine
As you all know, the country has been shut down for 4 straight weeks and for a lot of us, the pleasure and privilege to stay in the house while binging on Netflix and getting fat off mass-packaged snacks whether with family, roommates or even a significant other. But for some, this time has been a bit harder; whether because of not being in their home state, not having a home in their birth state to go back to, being from another country or even those whose jobs still remain open. I think now more than ever, this time is important for us to not only see life from our perspective (those of us with privilege) and start to understand that we all don’t live the same 24hour days, despite the popular Instagram sayings.
While I’ve been in the house, I have been taking full advantage of my internet and streaming resources, I have been stuffing my face with snacks that I know I shouldn’t be but working in the restaurant industry, I’ve spent time thinking about those small businesses that are suffering from the halting of daily business. Like some of us, they too have to pay a landlord and a few of our favorite places have closed as a result. As much as our idiots in office have used the phrase, “the new normal”, I’m not sure if we really realize what that will look like when we are back to our daily routines.
So as the creator that I claim to be, I realized that capturing this time in history will be important down the line, if not only to show the generations that are being conceived from all of the boredom sex that some have been having (jokes of course lol - kind of). I will attempt to capture the streets weekly as a way of documenting the closings of landmarks, the changing of cityscapes and the lives that still exist on our empty streets because they don’t have many other options.
Tap in every Sunday to see what part of the city I explore and what changes are happening around us.
Life & Love 🤞🏾
