What More Can I Say?

Off top, big thank you to everyone that has been following my journey to this point and the new people that will be following for years to come. None of this is possible without every single one of you.

I’ve gone through many ups and downs along the way that all lead me to the place that I stand today, all for the better. Along the journey, I have tried to remain and even grow in my ability to be transparent & vulnerable, both with myself and other individuals that may look to me for inspiration. Part of my evolution in the past year has been accepting my place as a symbol of inspiration for others because for so long I tried to ignore it, our of fear of coming off arrogant. The reality of the matter is that whether I chose to accept it or not, there are people (peers included) that watch what I do and find both entertainment and inspiration out of the art I put out to the world; it would be selfish of me not to share the lessons that I had to run into glass doors to gain wisdom from.

Again, I am extremely grateful for every single person that remains tuned in from week to week. I will make it my duty this year to maintain consistency in my posts on the site. I’ve heard from a few of you that you enjoy the writing portion of my blog, which helps me know that the transparency is received well. Also, I hope that it will mean forcing myself to keep up with regular posts and new types of content so that the blog page doesn’t get redundant.

Having had experience prior with art shows, I went into this event prepared to hear opinions and perspectives about the work that differed from my intentions. The conversation that actually led to Mike asking me to play an instrumental part of the resurgence of his original concept, was a conversation we had about one of my art shows in which the differing perspectives was awe-inspiring, so for this event I was already prepared for that response. What was surprising was the amount of questions and how engaged everyone was throughout the conversation everybody really gave us their undivided attention, helping tie the event together beautifully, from lay person to professional photographer.

Throughout my photographic journey, stretching back 7 years now, my parents have always shown up to events that they could make it to, whether they fully supported and understood what I was doing or not. This event marked the first time they were really able to get an understanding of the path I have taken, at the level of focus I have been on and where all the time that I have spent, family gatherings I have missed & moments I have had to pass on due to crafting a life that best suited me. It made me happy for them to gain that understanding on a deeper level but also allowed me to further step into who I have become because of all the work I put into this.

Art is transformative for many reasons but most importantly, I believe it gives a voice to those who for long have been existing in the world without becoming a product of it.
