Ennui Says Desire More
Art. The bridge between truth & propaganda, right & presumed wrong, justice & alleged objectivity. In times of struggle art has historically been the conscious that screams out in agony, the voice that lifts spirits. And it has been our burden as artists to ensure that we tow the line and uphold the integrity, it is our duty to speak for the voiceless.
Zina Anne of Ennui aims to do just that. Her goal, as proclaimed on her site, is to create art for the people and a network of young minds that desire more and are working to defy that. Reigning from Queens, Zina utilizes a variety of mediums to deliver her message; a message of upliftment. When Zina reached out, I was more than excited to collaborate with her. The concept of being able to capture an artist in her element, around her creations and most importantly, the ability to tap into the inspiration behind an artist's passion is forever intriguing. I was fresh off The Random WestCoast Roadtrip and as soon as I touched down in DC, I caught a Megabus up to Philly. I had met Zina one time prior when she stopped down in here DC at Pancakes & Booze (if you aren't familiar, please Google this great idea for an artshow) and was excited to actually connect artistically with this trip. Stepping into her space, I got a chance to understand her process, witness her work up close in an environment and see a piece that was in progress at the time of the trip. I'm a firm believer that artists deserve to see their flowers while they are still able to smell them, so go check out her work and give her work it's praise as its due.
