Ocean Views

There's no secret to the appeal of Southern California, just as it's obvious why it's the focal point of so many dreams and films. The beaches, the beautiful western sunsets, the year-round sunshine & good weather - LA is full of natural inspiration. It's a reminder to nurture yourself; a reminder to build your body, elevate your mind & grow deeper with it's soul. There's a deep intense energy flowing down the 405. I can't wait to return, there are so many untapped locations that as a non-local I see potential all-around.

It was a bit of a long drive up to Santa Barbara but it was so worth it. Meeting Daesha, as soon as I got off the plane, as the sun goes down wasn't the most conducive to the creative process. I was tired from the flight, I was tight & tense from the car ride out to Santa Barbara. But as we both agreed, the interaction was well worth it. Neither of us were in the mood to race against the clock, as the sun set over the horizon but we made it work. As most shooters know, that western sunset lighting is some of the most sought after lighting, especially for lighting people of color. The way the sun's passing lights up melinated skin is magical. Daesha would end up being the catalyst for an inspired week in LA and in looking at the pics, she set the tone giving me some great shots and moments to work with. Getting back to LA to work with her again is something I look forward to.
